Alpha-ville 09 Audiovisual Arts festival

Alpha-ville is an audiovisual art initiative that will serve as a platform to create a dialogue between arts, society and technology. Alpha-ville's aims are to promote artists from different creative sectors, deeper engage with the audience and equally support the work of female artists in the audiovisual field, as women are usually underrepresented. By promoting the work of female artists in electronic music and visual arts, we hope to encourage cultural diversity.

Alpha-ville is inspired by the terms 'Alpha' and 'Ville', as a representation of the origin of the cities, which is communication and society. We live today in an increasingly hyper-interconnected world where new virtual technologies create dependency and affect real social relationships. The event is also inspired by the film named 'Alphaville' (Godard, 1965) that describes a future where machines control human society and where signs of emotions are forbidden.

Alpha-ville festival is the first of a sequence that seeks to increase the accessibility of the arts to the public and improve the quality of life by donating 1% of the overall profit to a good cause. This time the festival will support ‘Save the Children', a non-profit organisation that works directly with the most marginalised children, wherever they are in the world.
